Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 This verse is very important. I like to think of Hebrews 11:1 as the classical, scriptural, technical definition of faith. It’s one thing to have a definition; it’s something else again to understand what that definition means to you personally. To be able to memorize and quote it is wonderful and certainly appropriate. But if we don’t know what we have memorized and how it affects us personally, then it’s of no real value.
Now Faith Is Part 1

If we say, “Faith is,” we still have it in the present tense, and that’s when faith is faith. Faith must be now. Faith’s time frame is always present tense. We have the time of faith. Faith is now. If it’s not now, it’s not faith. Because Faith Is. Faith is now. Now faith is.
